POPIN had a great time having dinner together before Noriko left to Japan. We had Indian food in Samy's Curry in Dempsey Road, what a great picture we have here:)
Shu Ning and Nia represented POPIN and attended an inspiring talk by Lindsey Bailey about Community Art.
"The talk was a sharing by artist Lindsey Bailey (www.cakecrush.com) about her past works which involved the community. She has a MA in Community Arts and her work was quite interesting! both similar and different from Popin works at the same time. I think her works are more targeted, where she would choose to work a particular group of youths. Nia and I also felt her works are more 'artsy' while Popin is more focused on craft. There is also the big element of 'performance' in her art. What is similar about her works to Popin though is the method in which it is carried out: planning a framework for the participants to be creative about, and how the work is a co-creation process between the artist and the participants. After the talk, she prepared an art piece for all of us to work on together and get a feel of community arts."

POPIN is always happy to be involved in such talks and hope that more will be done to support such events in the future!
